Summer School Nanosciences: Fundamental and Applications Emphasizing in Nanomedicine

Nanosciences study in-depth knowledge regarding to the properties of the materials in the nanorange. The properties of these materials depend on the size and shape of the nanoparticles and their ordering in 2-D and 3-D structures. The application of nanomaterials is in a wide range of fields such as device technology, medicine and chemical synthesis (catalysis). In this summer school, although the program is focused on the application of these nanosciences in nanomedicine nevertheless some other related topics will also be discussed. The course will cover both fundamental and application perspectives, started by the basic knowledge in general then the applications more specifically in the field of health and medicine. This summer school is offered to participants not only from Indonesia but also other countries, in addition to the class courses, there will be fun activities to learn the culture and tradition of participants worldwide.

Advanced bachelor and master students in the following fields of study :
– Pharmacy;
– Chemistry;
– Physics;
– Materials science;
– and other discipline related to Nanosciences;

The aim of this course is to show the participants the interdisciplinarity between different scientific fields that constitute the science of the nanoworld.

How to Get to Bandung

International Airport in Bandung : Husein Sastranegara. All international Students are recommended to take flight destination to Husein Sastranegara International Airport.

Living In Bandung

Public Transports : Bandung is rather prone to traffic jam, and this is due to the public transportation system which relies heavily on the-so-called “angkot”- minibuses which travel to all corners of the city. The fare is about IDR 2,000 – 5,000. You can hop in and out anywhere, not necessarily at a bus stop. You will not take the bus so often, as the bus routes are not as many as those of angkot. But you can also use online transportation such as Go-Jek or Uber.
Climate: Temperature ranges is about 25-30 degree C; humidity ranges from 66% to 82%.
Seasons: Dry season (April to September).
Language: Bahasa is the national language. English is widely spoken in the cities.
Clothing: Thin cotton is the best. Jackets or sweater may be necessary in a cool season.
Water: Drink only bottled or boiled water.
Local time: GMT + 7 hours.
Business hours: Most offices open from 8:30 am- 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. General banking hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am- 3:30 pm.
Credit Cards: Major credit cards (American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club) are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, shops, malls and travel agencies. ATMs are also abundant.
Internet: Many hotels provide Internet services, and cyber cafes are plentiful throughout the country.
Telephones: Cell phones are everywhere in Indonesia. For those bringing their own, SIM cards may be purchased to allow users to call within Indonesia at local rates.
Electrical Plug: the standard electrical plug/outlet in Indonesia with the standard electrical voltage of 220-240 Volts.
Cost of Living: Bandung is a relatively inexpensive city. A typical Indonesian student spends IDR 1,000,000 – 1,500,000 (US$ 100 – US$150) per month depending on your lifestyle. This figure includes meals, lodging, transport, and some entertainment.
