Profile

Research Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology (RCNN) ITB, is one of the latest research centers established by ITB which focused on education and research activities in the nanoscience and nanotechnology sectors. RCNN ITB was established to respond to modern time’s challenges and to reaffirm ITB’s commitment to always carry out research, development, and application of the latest science and technology for the sake of the nation’s progress.

Activities at RCNN ITB cover a wide spectrum of science and technology disciplines. There are 5 (five) focus areas of research in RCNN ITB: Nanomaterials, Nanomedicine, Nanodevices, Nanomaterials for Energy, and Nanobiotechnology. Each area has research experts from various faculties and schools in ITB as well as more than 100 active students who are involved in nanoscience and nanotechnology-based activities. RCNN ITB is also equipped with state-of-the-art material characterization equipment such as High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (HRTEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to support activities in it. Various national and international publications have been published by researchers at RCNN ITB as a result of activities not only in education and research, but also in social and community service.

RCNN ITB believes that with the increasing complexity of problems faced by society, an interdisciplinary approach is needed. RCNN ITB carrying the slogan “Advanced Interdisciplinary Technology for a Better Future”, is committed to making a comprehensive effort to nurture a rich and dynamic blend of each researchers’ academic background as a powerful way to face future challenges and fully fulfill its mission.

Research Collaboration

Research collaborations are carried out together with research institutions both at home and abroad. This collaboration is carried out in the common interest of each involved party and aims to improve the quality of research at RCNN ITB.

Industrial Link

Cooperation and network development with the industrial sector intended for applied research to achieve large-scale production to produce something positive for all parties. This form of collaboration is expected to provide opportunities in the development of research at RCNN ITB as well as in the utilization of natural resources in Indonesia.

Graduate Program in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

RCNN ITB is running a postgraduate program for master and doctoral programs that aims to support the development of science and technology, especially in the nanotechnology field. With the establishment of this postgraduate program, we hoped that the quality of Indonesia’s human resources in the field of nanotechnology would increase so that they can play a more active role in responding to Indonesia’s future challenges.

Expertise Community Services

RCNN ITB also provides scientific services such as characterization and evaluation of material samples, internships, workshops, etc. These services are intended for all domestic research communities who need them.
